Exploring nature at Windley Key!
Plantation Key School 2nd graders had an exciting field trip full of discovery and adventure at Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park! From learning about ancient coral reefs to exploring the natural beauty of the Florida Keys, it was a day full of fun and learning in the great outdoors!
Group to Compete at State Science Fair
This talented group of students were the finalists at the MCSD Regional Science Fair and will now be moving on to the State Science and Engineering Fair in Lakeland. Congratulations!
MHS Winter Guard
The Marathon High School Winter Guard had their 1st competition ever in February at West Broward HS. The group finished in 6th place for their division, just a half point from 5th place. Winter Guard is an activity that incorporates dance, spinning (flags, rifles, sabres, etc) and movement to music in an expressive way.
Reading to Kids
School Board members have been traveling the Keys this week reading to Kids during Literacy Week in the Keys. Here is board member Dr. Sue Woltanski who read to kids at Stanley Switlik and Plantation Key School this week.

Students visit NBC 6 and Telemundo
KLS Yearbook and AVID Excel students had an amazing experience at NBC6/Telemundo! They enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the studio and met lead anchors, producers, journalists, editors, and more.

MHS Champions for Change hosted World Day of Bullying Prevention and encouraged everyone to wear blue to show their support for anti-bullying, acceptance, and inclusion.

Students in Marine 2 Honors at Coral Shores High School went scuba diving to collect fish species and abundance data for REEF Reef Environmental Education Foundation's Citizen Science program.
Math Collaboration
Marathon students in Mrs. Robinson's class collaborated together to match inequalities with solutions and graphs, as well as solve and discuss real-word problems related to this skill.

The District's Start with Hello week began at Gerald Adams School with a special celebration! Students all said **HELLO** in different languages and embraced the diversity of our amazing community.

Celebrating Teacher of the Year
While attending the State Teacher of the Year gala, Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. and District Administrators had the opportunity to speak about issues specific to Monroe County.
Celebrating MCSD's Teacher of the Year!
The Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year Gala was a beautiful event celebrating the District Teachers of the Year from across the state including our own Caitlyn Sullivan who was joined by her husband Terry. Superintendent Theresa Axford attended along with former DTOY’s Neda Jackson and Monica Horsely and District Leaders Amber Acevedo, and Harry and Marla Russell.

Health History Form: Each school has a nurse available to students. Before a student sees a nurse, a Health History Emergency Contact Form must be on file. Please complete the form and return it to the school nurse if you want your child to be able to see the school's nurse.
